Roberto Escobar-Humberstone
Roberto Escobar has a broad range of professional and administrative experiences in El Salvador as well as internationally. His area of expertise ranges from the Sugar, Coffee, Tourism and Energy Industries to the Services and Sales sectors. He has also worked in the Salvadoran Government as General Consul for New England for more than four years.
As COO of Escobar Escobar y Cia, he is in charge of the transition of a Coffee Plantation into an Ecological Park as a Tourist destination in El Salvador.
For more than 10 years, Mr. Escobar has been heading the NGO Amigos del Lago de Ilopango/Pro Lago Ilopango, developing different projects in Sustainable Development for the Water Shed of Lake Ilopango. Lake Ilopango is the biggest water reserve in El Salvador and also the closest to Metropolitan San Salvador and its neighboring satellite cities, being impacted by a population greater than 600,000 people.
As General Manager of American Renewable Fuel Suppliers for seven years, he managed a Joint Venture between local CASSA, Cargill and Crystal Sev (Brazil) dedicated the commercialization, industrial operations and shipping contracts of an ethanol dehydration plant in El Salvador, with commercial ties to Brazil, USA and the EU.
As assistant General Manager of the largest Sugar Processing Mill and Commercialization Company in El Salvador, Compañia Azucarera Salvadoreña/CASSA, he has been very active in manufacturing processes, bagasse energy production, agricultural mechanization, and Human Development.
Mr. Escobar has been very active in organizational changes for more than 22 years, being the chief coordinator for multiple projects involving internal and external consultants. He has also supervised the commercial, logistical, and plant operations of ethanol dehydrating and sales into de United States.
Mr. Escobar has been active as member of the Board of Directors of various enterprises in El Salvador and Massachusetts, including local Environmentalist NGO´s: Salvanatura, Comité Empresarial Ambiental de ANEP, and is the current President of Amigos del Lago de Ilopango.
Mr. Escobar has a BS in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University, a Master’s in Business Administration with emphasis in Agro Industries and Marketing from INCAE, Costa Rica. He currently lives in San Salvador, El Salvador.
